Building your Team

From Kev’s experience, the most successful groups draw on mutual enjoyment in exploring and sharing their local heritage. The team-members are often drawn from many different walks of life and bring with them a variety of life skills, some of which can be very unlikely, but when it all comes together it makes an effective working team. Kev also brings with him an entire network to help you build and deliver your project. His network of groups all work together, through Kevin, to help distribute knowledge which was gained during previous projects. Just as importantly, Kev has built up a relationship with many professionals, ranging from geophysicists to re-enactors who can be called in as required. skills we can introduce and help you develop

  • engaging with others
  • desktop heritage studies
  • field-work
  • standardised recording
  • presentation techniques and exhibitions
  • developing and sharing your end product
  • long-term archiving and access

Funding

If private finance is not an option, there are a variety of ways to secure funding for your project, the most widely-available method is through the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). Kev began advising would-be projects about the HLF 13 years ago. He was involved in one of a small number of national pilot project which presented their findings to the House of Commons in 1999, that then demonstrated the viability and success of community-based heritage projects that resulted in the evolution of the HLF’s grant schemes. As such, he is often drafted in to help groups and individuals go about the business of securing funding from the HLF. If you have a good idea, an interesting feature or landscape, or an interest you’d like to share with others, please get in touch with Kevin and he can help guide you through the process. The funding scheme your project applies for, depends upon the type of project, ambition, target audience and the time-scale of your project’s delivery. For more information, please see the HLF’s website. [/col_three] [/pix_columns]
